- "Gears of War is a good game and, like all good games, could potentially be an excellent movie provided Hollywood doesn't mess it up."
WTF? How the F&%& can a good game be a good movie? Games have no story--just a bunch of fanboy lights and sound and graphics--just a bunch of bells and whistles that get fanboys excited. Bangady bang bang bangadty bang!! Shoot the Monsters!! Bangaty bangaty bangaty!!
How the &^%$ can Hollywood mess up Gears of War? What--not enough of Cliffyb Hype will mess up the movie?
In an interview with GamePro Beattie talks about how he wants to see the film made and he's brimming with ideas. He references 300 as a major influence."That film was shot completely on green screen, which is amazing when you actually see the film. It's probably how we're going to do Gears of War.""I hope it's extremely collaborative. From my point of view it's definitely going to be, because I'm going to be riding their asses about it."
WTF???? 300 was a friggin classic story based on a graphic novel created by a master storyteller--FRANK MILLER!!
Gears of War has a totally sucky fanboy story. It is good only if you have never read a book, like m0ost fanboys. And I'm not counting the Halo novels that Wyck Godfrey deems high art.
Story is actually different from CliffyB driving up to some Microsoft PR event in his Ferrarri and mugging with Lindsay Lohan, as Lindsay Lohan isn't exactly a storyteller either.
You will find few people who hate art/story/film more than the Rein/CliffyB/Wyck Godrey/Beattie combo.
They have no shame. As story and culture die, they pretend not to see.
The fanboy report ends with:

Hmm. So, with a quality writer attached to the film (one who actually may know what he's doing too) it looks like this movie may be better than we expected. How excited are you though? Let us know in the forums.
What a fanboy idiot. The movie has been canceled, due to budget concerns, which really means that WITHOUT A STORY, THE MOVIE WILL FAIL.
Even if Mark Rein flaps his mouth about how awesomely cool it is.
