Cliffyb/WyckyG --Master Hypesters --anti-story--anti art: New Line = Bottom Line

Cliffyb & WyckyG have such massive egos that they think that their egos alone can carry the Gears of War movie, sans story, sans poetry, sans art, sans plot, sans character.

Beattie doesn't have a Lord of the Rings in his soul. He's a Hollywood hack who detests story as much as Cliffyb & Wyckyg. Stuartyb has never written a deep, profound, meaningful story. The sooner he gets the hell out of Hollywood, the better off we'll all be.

In the Feb. 2007, #212, Electronic Gaming Monthly, Shoe & Shawn Elliott report, in an article called: Afterthoughts: Gears of War, in an interview with CliffyB:
EGM: The Mad World trailer (of Gears of War) is pretty cool, but you never have that big encounter in the game, and you never really explore the human, emotional side of the story like the commercial hints at. False advertising?

Jonas Allen writes at http://www.dailygame.net/news/archives/006086.php :

Cliffy B. can kiss my ass. I mean that in the most polite way possible. Before you start penning the hate mail, take a look at our Gears of War review. That's right, it won an Editor's Choice award. So why the venom for Cliffy B.? Because that was the hardest Editor's Choice award I've ever doled out. I literally lost sleep before writing our review, because I couldn't decide whether Gears of War was really worth the score. At the end of the day, there aren't any significant faults with the game, and the gameplay mechanics have me itching to play more, so the award was warranted. But the game's so-called story made it really tempting to score Gears of War an 8.9 out of spite.

I would like to challenge Cliffyb and WyckyG to a televised debate regarding New Line's hype- before-art tactics, and their use of hype, money and intimidation to shut true story, filmmakers, and artists out of Hollywood. The culture is declining, the familiy is breaking up, abortions are soaring, Wall street's hedge fund contoritionists and subprime hawkers are getting richer on the backs of the middle class, and Cliffyb & Wyckyg are laughing all the way on down, as brave souls are sent to foreign shores to fight and die for the ever-augmenting debauchery.

What is needed is more transparency. Where does New Line get its money, and why do they oppose classic, majestic, epic art and story with plot, character, and soul? Wall Street has destroyed the classic american family, so it makes sense that New Line, who works for Wall Street, also detests story, plot, character, spirit, and soul.

As the gap between the poor and rich grows, as WyckyG and Cliffyb drive their fancy cars around town, story and art die, all to serve New Line's bottom line via hype, hype, and hype. New Line's new name should be Bottom Line.

And like all the modern hipster-hypseter fanboy hedge funds, they want to drag all of culture down with them, like the Whale at the end of Moby Dick.

But as the last whelmings intermixingly poured themselves over the sunken head of the Indian at the mainmast, leaving a few inches of the erect spar yet visible, together with long streaming yards of the flag, which calmly undulated, with ironical coincidings, over the destroying billows they almost touched;—at that instant, a red arm and a hammer hovered backwardly uplifted in the open air, in the act of nailing the flag faster and yet faster to the subsiding spar. A sky-hawk that tauntingly had followed the main-truck downwards from its natural home among the stars, pecking at the flag, and incommoding Tashtego there; this bird now chanced to intercept its broad fluttering wing between the hammer and the wood; and simultaneously feeling that etherial thrill, the submerged savage beneath, in his death-gasp, kept his hammer frozen there; and so the bird of heaven, with archangelic shrieks, and his imperial beak thrust upwards, and his whole captive form folded in the flag of Ahab, went down with his ship, which, like Satan, would not sink to hell till she had dragged a living part of heaven along with her, and helmeted herself with it.

Long after all the fanboyisms have faded, and all the WyckyG and CliffyB Bottom Line hype has faded from eclipsing Truth and Beauty, profound, eloquent art such as Moby Dick will rise again.

I know how all those fanboy hedge fund managers play--I know how the Hollywood douchebags run the town, with their little, violent blurbs and backstabbing.

So go ahead, make my day.

Christian Slater, Lindsay Lohan, Anthony Hopkins, and Sean Connery vs. fanboy Hollywood Hacks Beattie/Godfrey/Cliffyb

True talent has been run out of Hollywood by the fanboy hacks with rotten tomato ratings.

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/theatre/article-23416744-details/How%20the%20bad%20boy%20beat%20the%20Hollywood%20sharks/article.do reports on the talented Christian Slater:
Today he says he has huge sympathy for self-destructive young stars such as
Lindsay Lohan (who he met on the set of his last film, Bobby). "There are a lot of vipers out there. I'm sure it's hard for these young girls to find people they can really trust. There is an element of use you up and spit you out. "My heart certainly goes out to Lindsay. She is a very talented girl, everyone loves her, but you know she's a young girl. Who are we to judge or condemn?" We all make mistakes, he says, that's how we learn.

Would that Wyck Godfrey were seeking out and developing true, profound stories, novels, and scripts, instead of chasing storyless, plotless fanboy fads such as Gears of War, and then hyping the project to the media as soul and family died.

Wyck had better wise up that his first and foremost concern ought to be art and the souls and spirits of the young starlets, instead of amoral, bottom-line oriented hollywood hack hype that routinely receives rotten scores on Rotten Tomatoes:
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/wyck_godfrey/

Regarding the fanboy producer/hacks, Sir Sean Connery states,

I'm fed up with the idiots, the ever-widening gap between people who know how to make movies and those who green light them. I don't say they're all idiots - I'm just saying there's a lot of them. –Sir Sean Connery, 007

And here’s Sir Anthony Hopkin’s take on the decline, from:
www.thisislondon.co.uk

The Hollywood star's latest film, The World's Fastest Indian, is a true
story about a New Zealander motorcyclist who broke the land speed record.

Sir Anthony said of the movie: "No sex or violence, and that's refreshing.
"I'm also tired of the camera moving all over the place, with car chases so cut and edited you don't know what's happening. "It's condescending. Audiences aren't so mindless as movie-makers think." He added: "If you look at The Shining or Fargo, they photograph it and let actors tell a story. That's the old-fashioned way. I hope it comes back." The Silence of the Lambs star added that he would not put up with "tyrannical" directors any longer, adding: "I don't take this acting business seriously ... I enjoy acting more now than ever because I treat it as an enjoyable hobby. "I can't get caught up in the self-importance. People bow to your every wish and you forget where you come from and what you're doing," he told the magazine. "I recently worked with two actors who wouldn't come out of their trailers for some reason. "Can you figure that out? It's insanity. Or they complain because their trailers aren't big enough. "Bulls***. It's a job, like any other, so don't make a big deal. Be
polite, treat the crew with respect and don't think you're different.

Anthony Hopkins has a 60% fresh tomamto meter reading. His freshest movie is Remains of the Day (100%), which is about C.S. Lewis--another class act.

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/anthony_hopkins

Would that Wyck Godfrey and his Hollywood hack production machine respected Shakespeare and the Bible as did C.S. Lewis. But he just keeps on chasing ambulances: http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/111-10202007-1426777.html

Note that Godfrey is not seeking out classic books, nor novels, nor epic stories, but he is choosing to lead with picture-books, video games, spectacle, hype, and news-driven events, as the money-machine studio sees that it already has gotten linked on the web, and thus lowers the costs of publicity and their risk. There're a thousand great novels/scripts/stories with rugged heroes, but Hollywood fanboys won't touch them, as they lack the artistry and skill. Many of them do not read. It would be fun to grab a beer with Wyck or Fliffyb and talk about Moby Dick or Hamlet, but the snarky-snarks just don't think the classics are cool. They have been beaten and whipped by feminist deconstructionists thier whole lives, and have consigned themselves to rotten tomato-meter readings and soulless Hollywood product from the Hollywood Matrix/Death Star/Scottish Nobles/Sauron--New Line.

Sir Sean Connery has a 65% fresh tomato reading, with another 100% movie rating--the Man who Would be King. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/sean_connery/

Lohan and Slater both have Tomato Ratings in the 40's--still Way Above Wyck Godfrey's in the 20's. And the reason why Lohan and Slatyer have lower ratings than Hopkins and Connery is that the Godfreys have been taking over and exiling true artists and storytellers--profound craftsmen of the immortal soul.

It's time for Godfrey/Beattie/Cliffyb et al to leave Hollywood and find new jobs doing something useful, instead of corrupting culture with their fanboy hype tactics and fanboy ambulance-chasing production strategies. I hope they find time to actually read a book, before driving on dwon Sunset in their Ferraris/Lambroguinis, yelling, "GEARS OF WAR IS AN EPIC STORY AND EPIC ART!!!"

Why Have So Many Movies Lost the Plot? He Blames Video Games

I think it's sad that Wyck Godfrey and the Hollywood Machine are so artless and soulless that instead of creating and respecting story, they have to lead with fanboy hype, as story, art, and film die. Well, their own careers will soon follow suit--as that is what they chose--hype over integrity, fanboyism over manhood, cheap business over everlasting art.

Godfrey's tomato meter is at solid rotten (28%) setting, and after six rotten movies, you can bet the the GEARS OF WAR movie will be rotten too. What are the chances of the Gears of War Movie being better than I-Robot, which was written by a gifted storyteller and writer, instead of a Hollywood fanboy hack?
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/wyck_godfrey/about.php

Godfrey/Cliffyb need to leave Hollywood before becoming the next Uwe Boll.

Just came across an awesome blog posting: http://observer.guardian.co.uk/review/story/0,,1759066,00.html

Why have so many movies lost the plot? I blame the video gamesA cursory glance at the list of cinematic stinkers which have taken their lead from PCs, Xboxes and PlayStations reveals that there has never been a half-decent movie based on a computer game, says Mark Kermode Sunday April 23, 2006The Observer

'The video game is extraordinarily popular,' enthuses Silent Hill movie producer Samuel Hadida, 'because each gamer experiences something unique when they play it.' Not so the poor old movie-goer who is left experiencing the same dreary tosh as every other disgruntled audience member. Without the luxury of a joystick in our hands, the viewer has no chance to make the incoherent on-screen antics any better - or worse. We just sit ... and stare.

How about video games and movies with soul, story, and plot? Why are Cliffyb, Wyck Godfrey, Stuart Beattie so opposed to talented artists and writers? Why do they hate novels and the Great Books and Classics? Why do they always lead with hype, try to tag some fancy graphics on it, and then follow up with even more hype? Why does New Line want to lose money--is Wyck Godfrey's ego really more important than New Line's bottom line, art, and film?

More from the awesome blog posting--filmmakers (like Godfrey) have lead the decline of narrative and storytelling, as they cant' make films: http://observer.guardian.co.uk/review/story/0,,1759066,00.html

The decline of narrative has, of course, gone hand in hand with the rise of consumer test screenings, the grisly process through which Hollywood execs show a movie to a cross section of its imagined 'target audience' and then ask them what they would do to make it better. This is the one area in which audiences do actually get to 'play' movies like computer games, and the results are always terrible. It was dunderheaded audiences screaming 'kill the bitch!' at test screenings of Fatal Attraction who persuaded the film-makers to shoot a new ending in which Glenn Close's character became the victim of a shooting rather than a suicide, thus destroying whatever internal logic the film may have had. If it was left to the viewers, you can rest assured that Humphrey Bogart would have gotten on the plane with Ingrid Bergman at the end of Casablanca, or that Ali McGraw would have experienced a miraculous recovery in the closing moments of Love Story. Audiences cannot make movies - that's why they are audiences. Sadly, in the current marketplace, it seems that many film-makers can't make them either.

ROCK ON FANBOIS!!! BANGATY-BANG-BANG!! KILL THE STOY!! KILL THE PLOT!! HYPE! HYPE!

Why Video Game Movies Suck: Part II

A certain contingent of Hollywood/Wall Street hacks operate as fanboy ambulance-chasers.

Paris Hilton says "that's hot," and they rampage on over, drive on down La Brea, whip out their check books, and produce it.

Wyck Godfrey's rotten tomato meter is filled with clues as to why the Gears of War Movie will suck, if it is ever made:

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/wyck_godfrey/

Wyck's only movie which comes close to a positive tomato meter reading is I, Robot. This is because it was actually based on a story penned by real writer--a lone writer--a writer with story in his soul, instead of Microsoft-fueled fanboy hype.

But Wall Street and Hollywood hate real writers, as they hate the Truth--for Truth is the hard, long road, and they just want the quick buck. So they think they're taking less risk when they produce the Gears of War movie, complete with its built-in fanboy base, but in reality, they are taking a far greater risk. For at this table, and upon the silver screen, Truth and Story trump fanboy hype and ambulance chasing.

Make no mistake--video games will become epic, immortal art someday; but the renaissance will not happen with Godfrey/Cliffyb/Beattie/Fanboy Hype at the helm.

No, real men will someday take the helm, as soon as the snarky, perfidious fangirl hypesters fail to string the bow a few more times in a few more sucky, storyless, plotless, characterless fanboy films, and finally retire to that lower table of soulless sellouts, where they can no longer corrupt art and culture.

I guess you could say that I'm calling them out, and they're got to show their hand--there's the card of fanboy hype, and the card of ambulance-chasing movie production, and the card of hired-gun screenwriter with no special, sacred story in his soul, and the card of Wall Street muscle, but there is no card of epic, enduring art; which must come not from the beast nor matrix nor machine, but from the lone, moral individual.

You can call me a liar and condemn me to fire, but time offer proof, as time bolsters the truth.

One of two things will happen:
1) There will be no Gears of War movie, as the Wall Street bankers realize taht without story, all teh fanboy hype in the world don't buy epic art.
2) There will be a Gears of War Movie, Cliffyb will drive his lambrogini up and down sunset with Lindsay Lohan, yelling "come see our higher, immortal art!" as culture dies and taxes and divorce rise; and the movie will suck.

Why Video Game Movies Suck & Video Game Stories Suck

I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man. --Thomas Jefferson

Fanboys detest the great books and classics.

In their superficial, worldless, bookless, litless, soulless cave, spectacle and hype are all they know, and so they confuse spectacle and hype with story. They see pretty shadows dancing on the wall, and they don't feel so bad as culture dies all about them and the family breaks up, as they drive their Ferraris around, hyping storyless, plotless, soulless creations as great and enduring dramatic art.

You will never hear Mark Rein/Cliffyb/Wyck Godfrey quoting Shakespeare, Dante, or The Odyssey.

That's because only in the absence of the Greats, which remind us of Truth, can they hype, hype, hype. Wall Street had to get rid of the Great Books and classics, so as to better be able to devalue the currency and break up the family, and Cliffyb/Wyck Godfrey must serve Wall Street over art, truth, and Story.

Wall Street's New Line/Time Warner is afraid of competetion, and so they have created a soul-destroying, story-hating, art-killing Hollywood machine. Mark Rein/Cliffyb/Wyck Godfrey are the true Locusts, emerging from the subteranean Wall Street/Hollywood Matrix to kill story. For story reminds us of truth and individuality, and thus Wall Street, which relies on lies, hype and deciet to profit in their zero-sum game, cannot afford it.

The vast arrogance of fanboys never ceases to amaze me.

J.R.R. Tolkien has a Tomato Meter rating of 95% postive:
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/jrr_tolkien/

Wyck Godfrey has a Tomato Metere rating of 28%.
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/wyck_godfrey/

Why it is that Wyck Godfrey seeks to chase ambulances and hype fanboyism, instead of busting his ass penning an epic, classical story, we do not know. Wyck could reach out to modern authors, but make no mistake, he has run the numbers in his little head, and he has chosen to ignore the authors, just like the feminist Wall Street machine. He finds good company amongst fanboys, as they too detest epic, classic, profound story.

Make no mistake--this is war. Every lie/hype propagated by Microsoft/Cliffyb/New Line is a violent affront to Truth, and thus Story, as teh center and circumference of Story is Truth.

Unfortunately, in order to bolster the Wall Street/New Line mythology, the machine must place Cliffyb/Stuart Beattie/Wyck Godfrey over true art and artsists. This means that they must counter the truth, plot, chraracter, and epic story; and prop up superficial fanboy fictions and hype.

Make no mistake--they could reach out to true writers, to true art, to Truth and Beauty, but once they touched that Ring, they put it on. They chose the lies of the Matrix--the illusion of Wall Street's machine, over the rugged truth of the indie artist. They chose to serve the Dark Side of the Force, with groupthink, hyped Microsoft press releases concealing their lack of soul, spirit, erudition, and story:

"I'd rather have people say the story isn't deep than complain that they had to skip nonstop cut-scenes and comlink communications," Bleszinski says. Thanks a lot, Cliffy B. It's developers like you that give games a bad name by providing us laughably poor storylines utterly bereft of originality.

CliffyB does'nt know how to make a patriotic story, only a game with pretty graphics. Wait a week or so... you will get bitch slaped by a random Metal Gear Fan.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox360/review/R107512.html

Yes, I definitely think this game has been severely overrated by the media, due to the of course excellent graphics and ridiculous levels of hype. For a start, and one of my biggest Gripes in the whole game is the Story. Or more appropriately, the Lack of Story. It is very strange how Cliffy B said himself many times that he thinks games require a compelling narrative, and has even said that Gears will have a epic emotional feeling storyline. So Cliffy, where is it?

And thus as a hedge fund we will be shorting New Line/Time Warner.

Gears of War is looking for a director--yeah right.

The Gears of War/Wyck Godfrey/Cliffyb team says that they're looking for a director.

Yeah right.

http://gearsofwar.moviechronicles.com/ reports
GEARS OF WAR is not stalled in any way, shape, or form. We are simply in the process of finding the right director. This is always a delicate and
difficult task, and with multiple looming strikes, even more so. Be patient, stay tuned, news will come.

HOW THE #($@#*$( ARE THEY GOING TO FIND A DIRECTOR WHEN THEY HAVE NO STORY?

WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO? HAVE MARK REIN AND CLIFFYB DRIVE AROUND WITH LINDSAY LOHAN IN THEIR FERRARIS, AND SHOUT OUT ON SUNSET THAT THEY HAVE A STORY/MOVIE/FILM/ART WORTH SEEING?

The Wyck Godfrey/Epic Games team are hype masters. Instead of writing story--rugged story--which took Tolkien a lifetime, the fanboy faddists want to take the easy way out--hype, hype, hype & ambulance-chasing movie production.

Make no mistake--there is no story for Gears of War.

There was none in the video game, even though cliffyb (Microsoft) claimed there was.

And there is no story for the movie.

You will find few people who detest story more than Wyck Godfrey/CliffyB/Stuart Beattie. For story requires Truth, and Truth is the opposite of corporate Wall Street Hype.

There will be no GOW movie, and if there is, it will suck as much as Godfrey's other movies:

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/wyck_godfrey/

Awesome--he has a 28% tomato meter rating.

Awesome: Gears of War Movie Fanboys Getting Called Out

The Wyk Godfrey/Cliffyb Gears of War Corporate Fanboy Hype machine is getting called out:

http://www.themovieblog.com/2007/10/thundercats-movie-doomed

Having said all that, it looks like they’ve got themselves a “director” for
the movie. I put “director” in quotes because up till now, his day job has been as a video game creator, Jerry O’Flaherty. The folks at moviehole
give us tis: The game creator says that video games are increasingly incorporating lavish animated sequences that mimic pics, making a toon a much easier transition. “It feels like a natural thing for me to step into,” he said. “Games have come so far now. The last four years of my life have been about bringing the energy of filmmaking into the videogame experience.” Wow, ummm… ok.

One of Wall Street's commandments is to bannish epic storytelling, as epic storytelling reminds us of our individuality, and it makes it harder for Wall Street to steal from us.

Wall street loves little girly men, who don't have any story in their souls, but who only want to paint pretty little pictures.

Shorting Media Compaies

Now is a great time to be shorting media companies:

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=TWX&t=my&l=on&z=m&q=l&c=

New Line fanboyism is destined to drag Time Warner on down with it, no matter how many times Cliffyb and the Microsoft Hype Machine proclaim that Gears of War has, or will gain, an Epic Story.

Rock on girly fanboys!!

Bangaty-bang-bangaty-bang! Shoot the monster! See--it's story!

The true monsters of our era are the Wall Street hypesters, the hedge fund managers, and the liars and frauds.

And as Cliffyb and Godfrey are ultimately working for their bottom line, they can't afford the higher ideals, nor epic story.

And thus they become the epic story--tragic figures--the very monsters that their video games portray on a superficial level, but never render on a deeper level.

New Line // Time Warner //Sundance Hollywood Hypesters

http://news.morningstar.com/news/ViewNews.asp?article=/BW/20071003005739_univ.xml

Sundance Institute and Time Warner Announce New Four-Year Storytelling Advancement Fund

Sundance Institute and Time Warner Inc. (NYSE: TWX) announce today the Time Warner Storytelling Advancement Fund. The Fund provides substantial support over four years to help fund Sundance Institute's development and celebration of independent artists across the Sundance Institute's core programs.

http://news.morningstar.com/news/ViewNews.asp?article=/BW/20071003005739_univ.xml

Actually, Wall Street destets Truth and thus Story and the
Individual.

And Sundance enjoys movies about child rape:

http://www.theage.com.au/news/film/sundance-courts-controversy-with-child-rape-film/2007/01/09/1168104980787.html

Good to see time Warner/Hollywood/Sundance in bed together. Once again, they have killed the soul of story--that epic manhood that passes judgement. Time Warner and Sundance are so poor that they can't even afford to pass judgement on this:

If there's a powder keg at this month's Sundance Film Festival, it's the
untitled drama that features 12-year-old Dakota Fanning, whose character is raped by a small-town bully, and co-stars Afemo Omilami, the Atlanta-based actor who plays the soft-spoken mentor who helps her.. http://www.theage.com.au/news/film/sundance-courts-controversy-with-child-rape-film/2007/01/09/1168104980787.html

When indie storytellers have to serve Wall Street's Bottom line, you end up with Wyck Godfreys and cliffybs--with porn and perversions--not Epic Story, poets and prophets--not with Sergio Leones and John Fords.

If you want to know why civilization is declining, the family is breaking up, and video game movies suck, here's your answer--the Godfrey/cliffyb/time warner/sundance sisterhood.

Hollywood Cowards Lead by Warner Brothers

Hollywood fanboys hate story.

They detest story.

When's the last time they produced a modern story/idea/novel/screenplay?

Why do they always have to lead with graphic novels/fanboys/things from the eighties?

Because they are cowards.

They destest Sergioe Leones and John Waynes and Homers alike--they are dumbed-down, crass, feminized little fanboys:
http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=17731

Apparently video game veteran Jerry O'Flaherty, who most recently served as art director for Epic Games' blockbuster Gears of War and Unreal Tournament 3, will make his feature film directorial debut. Variety says that O'Flaherty "had been looking to make the leap into movies and was considering several projects, even live action."

Nevertheless, as video game visuals and animation become more and more sophisticated, there's been greater convergence between the two industries and it's not surprising to see a game veteran head up a CG movie.

http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=17731

Once upon a time directors were manly storytellers. Today they are girly/fanboy art directors, incapable of God's Judgement. The movie will fail.

As soon as the feminized beast that is Time Warner allows men back into their ranks, their movies will fail.

The fanboy movie will suck as they all do.

300 rocked because it was created by a storyteller--some some fanboy art major.

The problem with fanboys is that most never had dads

The problem with fanboys is that most never had dads, and thus they run around like little girls like Wyck Godfrey, hiding is soullelss, plotless plans to take over the worl with his rotten tomato meter New Line career.

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/wyck_godfrey/

Hollywood fanboys have got another thing coming.

We're tired of the dumbed down, spurious lying and hype.

We want rugged, epic, manly story.

We want to rock out.

But all they care about is JohnnyDepp in Mascara, Cliffyb's endless, storyless, soulless hype; and serving the teenage fanboys--many of whom don't have fathers to teach them the true, deeper nature of epic art.

And so they will fail, and we will enjoy every minute of it, as their hubris called on down the thunder.

I'm going to start charging Hollywood money

This simple page will save Hollywood billions of dollars.

And unlike Godfrey/Cliffb/Beattie who hype/lie for money and power, I tell the Truth for free.

In the movie 300, the triator to Truth was awarded with vast wealth and riches for turning on the classical Greek spirit.

So too have Godfrey/Cliffb/Beattie turned on the classical Greek spirit of rugged manhood and Epic Story.

I'm going to start charging Hollywood Money

This simple page will save Hollywood billions of dollars.

And unlike Godfrey/Cliffyb/Beattie who hype/lie for money and power, I tell the Truth for free.

Why Video Game Movies Fail & Why Gears of War Will Fail

Video game movies fail because they are generally case studies of Hollywood putting the bottom line over the higher ideals, of placing arrogance, hype, and fanboy groupthink over art.

Here is how 300 worked:

epic story -> epic graphic novel -> epic screenplay -> epic movie

Frank Miller, the Individual Author, was present the whole way.

Here is how Gears of War is proceding:

fanboy hype -> pictures of Cliffyb with Lindsay Lohan -> ambualnce chaser/producer Wyck Godfrey chasing the latest fad -> more fanboy hype about how Gears of War = LOTR because of common New Line producers -> more fanboy hype that GOW = 300 because it will be shot with a green screen and electricity too -> hiring hollywood hack Stuart Beattie who is incapable of art --> GOW movie dudd

Here is their fatal flaw.

King Leonidas lead his army for truth and freedom against mysticism and tyranny.

The Cliffyb/Wyck Godfrey/Beattie triumverate represenst Hollywood's mysticism and tyranny. They are responsible for the death of art, story, and culture.

The point of art is to serve the people and the higher ideals. The Cliffyb/Wyck Godfrey/Beattie triumverate is seeking to serve themselves, tehir investors, their egoes, and the bottom line.

None of them have ever created a deep, profound, meaningful male character.

None of them have ever created a deep, profound, meaningful female character.

None of them have ever created a deep, profound, meaningful story.

There are screenplays and novels out there that could serve them well, but as story and soul have been banned by the machine, they must remain loyal to Xerxes (New Line/Wall Street) who gives them power and glory for sacrificing love, soul, art, and story.

The GOW movie will fail, and this much is for sure--the bigger the budget, the more New Line's investors will lose.

Tuesday, October 9, 2007

Please just stop--GOW is not 300

Please just stop--GOW is not 300.

300 was a classic epic story before it became a movie.

http://www.filmjunk.com/2007/10/09/gears-of-war-movie-not-dead-everquest-movie-gets-300-screenwriter/ reports:
After the announcement that Len Wiseman was off the Escape From New York remake, there were also reports that his Gears of War feature film was in trouble at New Line due to an escalating budget. Well, it turns out that this was
just all just internet hearsay, because both game designer Cliffy B and screenwriter Stuart Beattie (Collateral, Pirates of the Caribbean) have come out to reassure people that it’s still on track. Apparently the flick will have a hard R-rating, and will likely be shot using a green screen set up similar to 300.

Gears of Carribbean is going to suck, even if Johnny Depp plays Marcus Phoenix with mascara.

Hollywood Hypesters & GOW Fanboys

The Stuart Beattie/Wyck Godfrey/Cliffyb triumverate is Hollywood's death star.

In his poetics, Aristotle put story/plot first, and spectacle close to last.

Gears of War has no deep, profound, epic story.
GOW is not 300.
GOW is not The Lord of The Rings.

GOW relies on intimidation and hype from Cliffyb(Microsoft) and Godfrey/Beattie.

Beattie elaborates:

http://www.gamepro.com/news.cfm?article_id=137868

"The perception of videogames in Hollywood is changing slowly," said Beattie. "Hollywood likes to do what's proven. They've already proved that books work, and plays can work, and recently that comic books can work. But they've yet to have a film be as successful as say Spider-Man, that's based on a videogame. We had the same thing with Pirates of the Caribbean. They didn't want to base a film from a theme park ride. But now that it's done and it's been successful they're looking for what other theme park rides could possibly work as films." --http://www.gamepro.com/news.cfm?article_id=137868

OMFG--gone forever are the days of making movies based on story--based on Shakespeare and Melville, but now the snarky-snark Godfrey/CliffyB/Beattie machine is going to make movies based on theme park rides.

Shoot me now. Chainsaw me. Just get it over with.

Stuart Beattie states,

"While there are more and more videogame movies being made because there are more and more videogames being made, there still hasn't been that one that has hit it out of the park yet," said Beattie. "At the moment, I would say the perception of videogame movies in Hollywood is: they are interested, they're intrigued, but they're still not completely sure if it can actually work."

That is because video games have no story, and to top it off, fanboys like Godfrey and CliffyB detest story. That is why you don't hear them quoting books. That is why they never talk about Shakespeare, Dante, Homer, and Melville. Instead they talk about superficial, characterless Fanboy fluff--Optimus Prime and Master Chief.

I have no idea why New Line considers Godfrey a good investment--he has never written a book. His movies aren't art, and they don't make all that much bank:

Admit it people--the story in gears sucked.

If New Line wants to lose money, there is no better investment than Wyck Godfrey/Beattie/CliffyB. Perhaps they can hire twenty or thirty writers for the project--that will make it a success, just as J.R.R. Tolkien hired thirty writers to finish LOTR.

Cliffyb is so f#&(# cool. PONIES!!! PwN3d!!

The following is from: http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=17663&ncid=AOLGAM000500000000004 and http://gearsofwar.moviechronicles.com/2007-10/cliffyb-talks-film/

I've added some commentary pertaining to Wyck Godfrey & Cliffyb's arrogance, hubris, incompetence, and general misundertsanding and dismissal of epic story, film, Shakespeare, and art.

BIZ: What’s it like working with Stuart Beattie, the man who helped turn Pirates of the Caribbean into a Hollywood blockbuster?
CliffyB: Stu is amazing to work with because he knows Gears inside and out. He beat the game several times and he was hooked on multiplayer. You go into these Hollywood meetings and expect a certain type of Hollywood people, many of whom I’ve met.

[…] He respects the franchise and he’s a fan of it. He also knows how to write a compelling movie and adaptation.

  1. HAHAHHAHA--HOW CAN HE ADAPT STORYLESS GEARS OF WAR. WHAT IS THERE TO ADAPT? BANGATY BANG BANG BANG!! SEE THE MONSTERS DIE! BANGATY BANG BANG!! & PIRATES WASN'T ART!!!!

[…] I think we have a really great script and now it’s just a matter of getting the right director attached and making sure it becomes a “AAA” blockbuster movie.

  1. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!! A REALLY GREAT SCRIPT BASED ON THE GEARS OF WAR STORY!!! JUST LIKE WYCK GODFREY IS A REALLY GREAT PRODUCER!!!

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/wyck_godfrey/
[…] The fact that Gears is an M-rated franchise and involves people getting chainsawed in half, it’s got to be a pretty f***ing hardcore movie.

  1. HAHAHAHAHA. Cliffyb thinks like a little girl with a third-grade reading level, and thus he thinks four letter words and chainsaws make one hardcore--had only Shakespeare known this.

[…] I get a lot of forum posts where Gears fans tell us we need to cast this wrestler as Marcus. I don’t give a f**k if the guy’s buff or six foot five. What matters most is that this guy is charismatic and he can act and is somebody compelling that you want to watch on screen. […]

  1. HAHAHAHAHAH!! CHARISMA IS WHAT WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN--NO NEED FOR STORY NOR ART!!

What matters is charisma because you can’t fake that. […]
CliffyB: We shared every detail imaginable with Stu on the franchise as far as the story bible and all of the secrets that everybody wants to know about what went down in Gears of War. […] He knows the underlying themes of the franchise and all of the underlying motivations of each of the characters. That’s fuel for the screenplay that he’s written. […] New Line, having done Lord of the Rings, they know how to back a very risky but also a potentially very lucrative franchise and make sure it’s treated with the respect it deserves.

  1. HAHAHAHAHAH!! CLIFFYB THINKS THAT GOW IS AS VALUABLE AS LORD OF THE RINGS, AND DESERVES THE SAME "RESPECT"!!! LORD OF THE RINGS WAS A BOOK CREATED BY A HUMBLE LONE ARTIST WITH AN EPIC STORY!!! TOLKIEN NEVER DROVE HIS FERRARI TO PHOTOPS WITH LINDSAY LOHAN!!! GEARS OF WAR IS A FANBOY VIDEO GAME HYPED BY CLIFFYB/MICROSOFT. GEARS OF WAR SECRETS--HAHAHAHAHAHAH! DO TELL US ALL!! WHY IS CLIFFYB KEEPING ALL THESE GOW SECRETS? WHY NOT SHARE THE EXALTED, EPIC STORY?

CLIFFYB HYPE + WYCK GODFREY'S RECORD = PLOTLESS, STORYLESS, ARTLESS MOVIESUCK.

Fanboys are Little Girls: Why Video Game Movies Fail

Fanboys are Little Girls: Why Video Games Movies Fail

Fanboys like Wyck Godfrey act like little girls, incapable of art, instead preferring pretty graphics and PONI3Z!!:
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/wyck_godfrey/

Because they are not real artists like Tolkien, Lucas, Shakespeare, Homer, and Dante, they are not capable of epic story and art.
http://www.iesb.net/index.php?option=com_ezine&task=read&page=1&category=1&article=3418

Does this mean Len Wiseman will now be moving forward with the highly anticipated Gear of War film? Nope, the IESB has been informed Wiseman is off Gears as well*** and that New Line Cinema will most likely not move forward with the film at all. Our source is saying that the studio has concerns with ballooning budget of the film.

Translation: Wyck Godfrey & Mark Rein & CliffyB hate Shakespeare and Dante--they have never read any books, and they are incapable of conceiving, telling, rendering, and shooting a story. Thus New Line investors don't want to waste their money on a soulless piece of fanboy art, as Microsoft's hype won't carry any clout amongst lovers of art and film, even if Cliffyb poses with Lindsay Lohan.

Again, let me say it. Lord of The Rings was a book and epic story. 300 was a book and epic story.

Gears of War is a fanboy video game for little girls, and fanboys like Wyck Godfrey are little girls, incapable of art:

The Epic Fanboy Hype Machine

Here's an epic hype headline for you:

News: Gears Of War movie to copy 300:
http://www.unrealaddicts.com/forums/unreal-tournament-news/17779-news-gears-war-movie-copy-300-a.html

No.

300 was an Epic Story.

Gears of War is a fanboy video game.

GOW does not equal 300.

Just because GOW might be shot on a green screen, using electricity, just like 300, does not mean it is going to copy 300. Let's stop with the fanboy hype that is killing Hollywood. Wyck Godfrey needs to start producing art, if he wants to raise his rotten tomato meter.

Fanboys Murdering Hollywood

Here is more complete crap about Gears of War from:

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2007/10/08/gears_of_war_movie_details/1
  • "Gears of War is a good game and, like all good games, could potentially be an excellent movie provided Hollywood doesn't mess it up."

WTF? How the F&%& can a good game be a good movie? Games have no story--just a bunch of fanboy lights and sound and graphics--just a bunch of bells and whistles that get fanboys excited. Bangady bang bang bangadty bang!! Shoot the Monsters!! Bangaty bangaty bangaty!!

How the &^%$ can Hollywood mess up Gears of War? What--not enough of Cliffyb Hype will mess up the movie?

In an interview with GamePro Beattie talks about how he wants to see the film made and he's brimming with ideas. He references 300 as a major influence."That film was shot completely on green screen, which is amazing when you actually see the film. It's probably how we're going to do Gears of War.""I hope it's extremely collaborative. From my point of view it's definitely going to be, because I'm going to be riding their asses about it."

WTF???? 300 was a friggin classic story based on a graphic novel created by a master storyteller--FRANK MILLER!!

Gears of War has a totally sucky fanboy story. It is good only if you have never read a book, like m0ost fanboys. And I'm not counting the Halo novels that Wyck Godfrey deems high art.

Story is actually different from CliffyB driving up to some Microsoft PR event in his Ferrarri and mugging with Lindsay Lohan, as Lindsay Lohan isn't exactly a storyteller either.

You will find few people who hate art/story/film more than the Rein/CliffyB/Wyck Godrey/Beattie combo.

They have no shame. As story and culture die, they pretend not to see.

The fanboy report ends with:

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2007/10/08/gears_of_war_movie_details/1

Hmm. So, with a quality writer attached to the film (one who actually may know what he's doing too) it looks like this movie may be better than we expected. How excited are you though? Let us know in the forums.

What a fanboy idiot. The movie has been canceled, due to budget concerns, which really means that WITHOUT A STORY, THE MOVIE WILL FAIL.

Even if Mark Rein flaps his mouth about how awesomely cool it is.

Cliffyb Name Dropping

Fact: Cliffyb has never created a compelling story.
Fact: Cliffyb has never hired a team of writers who have created a compelling story.
Fact: The story in Gears of War sucks.

But listen to Cliffyb talk smack and name-drop:

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=171868
  • Gears of War creator CliffyB has spoken of the influence of JRR Tolkien's work on his tip-top shooter in an interview with PC Zone magazine. "We wanted the Locust to be intelligent savages; they're like the Uruk-hai in LOTR, only with guns", the Epic man said when asked about the game's enemies.

Awesome--Gears of War is just like Lord of The Rings now. That means the movie will be great. Awesome.

Heart Breaking: Cliffy B Talks Gears of the Rings - Kotaku

http://kotaku.com/gaming/notag/cliffy-b-talks-gears-of-the-rings-299077.php

Awesome--"Gears of the Rings."

Fanboys can fake associations with classic culture all they want, but none can hold a candle to J.R.R. Tolkien, nor the epic movies, which were based on stories.

Gears of War Movie Gets Euthanized

Even with millions of fanboys, and hundreds of millions in free publicity, video games fail as movies.

This is because Mark Rein/Wyck Godfrey and CliffyB are too arrogant to humble themselves before Epic Story.

Finally--Gears of War Movie Production Halted

Sources say:

Gears of War Movie on Ice?

Gears of War film not going ahead?
http://xboxer.tv/2007/10/gears_of_war_film_uncertain.html

"As I’ve said before, while the art direction of Gears of War was fabulous, the plot was pretty non-existent. Little details established a universe, but the actually story was pretty thin. Still, being able to start a plot from scratch might actually be a plus when it comes to making a movie, if the right team’s attached to it." -- Gears of War film not going ahead? http://xboxer.tv/2007/10/gears_of_war_film_uncertain.html

Yeah right--the right team, lead by ambulance-chacing producer Wyck Godrfey who has a solid rotten rating: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/wyck_godfrey/

Good to hear that without a story, New Line has decided to save themselves the trouble and the money.

Why video game movies suck. Stop insulting the fanboys.

We fanboys loved 300 because it told a story. 300 was penned by a talented individual--Frank Miller, who supervised the production every step of the way.

Video game movies suck because they place hype and spectacle over story. They consistentluy insult everyone, ranging from Aristotle to all us fanboys out here, who are waiting for the day that both video game creators and producers get it--we're hungry for lasting, immortal art.

While J.R.R. Tolkien labored in quiet independence for years in penning The Lord of The Rings, Cliffyb drives up in his shiny new fanboy Lambrogini, high-fives ambulance-chaser-producer Wyck Godfrey, and they put out a call for Hollywood hacks and a team of writers who have never created, and will never create, art.

Instead of Epic Story, Cliffyb thinks it all comes down to "charisma." Sure--Gandalf had Charisma. William Wallace had Charisma. King Leonidas had Charisma. And all those blockbuster movies had STORY. Cliffb says,

http://blog.wired.com/games/2007/10/cliffyb-wants-c.html
The Rock is the rare exception of a wrestler who is that charismatic that he can carry a movie. If they cast four mongoloid wrestlers in Gears and they're just as exciting to watch as paint dry on the screen, nobody's going to go see it. They can make actors buff by working out for a few months before filming. You don't have any sense of scale when you watch a movie. They can make a badass with camera angles. What matters is charisma because you can't fake that.

Nowhere does Cliffyb mention Story, so what we're going to have is a bunch of Charismatic actors hyped by Microsoft press releases in a meaningless, shallow movie. And by the way, Pirates of the Caribbean wasn't art either.

Then Cliffyb calls the Microsoft PR department so as to craft hype, lies, and deceit regarding the story in Gears of War, as the fanboys can be counted on to believe anything, just as long as a chainsaw is included. Gone are love and romance, gone are plot, character, and story, and Cliffyb and Wyck revel in giving Aristotle and his Poetics the finger, as they place spectacle first and story last.

But the Greeks also taught us about hubris, and thus there will be no Gears of War movie:

http://www.actiontrip.com/rei/comments_news.phtml?id=100507_6

http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=17680

"Master Chief couldn't penetrate Hollywood to make a Halo movie, and now rumblings suggest that budget concerns could halt Marcus Feenix's silver screen debut as well. Hollywood seems to hesitate when it comes to video game properties."

Hell yeah they do--with no story, art, and thus films, are impossible.

And even if there were A Gears of War Movie, it would suck.
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/wyck_godfrey/

What is his tomato meter average? Rotten.

Incapable of art, Wyck is the worst kind of Hollywood Producer--the ambulance chaser. After the success of Mel Gibson's Passion, Wyck greenlighted The Nativity Story, which flopped.

Then Wyck gets an email--"video games are a hot business."

So he's off after the next ambulance.

And New Line puts together a team of snarky pseudo-fanboys to further kill teh culture and demolish art, and Mark Rein flaps his mouth about how cool the movie that will never be is going to be.

And Cliffyb lines up interview after interview after interview, namedropping 300 and Lord of The Rings, never saulting the fact that first and foremost these were stories--before they were movies, before they were video games, they were stories.

And Cliffyb hops in his Ferrari, saying--all those critics--they're just jealous.

Video
