Video Games, As Defined by Cliffyb & Wyck Godfrey, Are The Exact Opposite of Art

Wyck "28% Rotten Tomato Rating" Godfrey optioned Gears of War because it comes with a built-in fanboy audience who will eat Cliffyb's hype, hype, hype, and reguritate it on thousands of fanboy message boards.

Wyck "28% Rotten Tomato Rating" Godfrey did not option Gears of War for its story, as it has none, despite Cliffyb's fanboy hype. Unfortunately for Wyckyg, fanboy hype only works on fanboys who don't read books and have never touched a real girl. That means that the fanboys won't be taking dates to the GoW movie, which means that New Line's bottom line won't be served; and thus WyckyG's higher god--his muse and inspiration--money--will dump him.

It would be fun to sit down with Wyck and Cliffyb and talk about novels and stories and art and culture, but the snarky Wall Street fanboys detest truth, story, and art. Try talking to Mark Rein about art sometime. He'll look around impatiently instead of listening to the wrods taht would enrich him, and then run off to hype the story in GoW to some fanboy magazine.

Wyck Godfrey and Cliffyb are so arrogant that they think they can give culture and literature and art and film the middle finger, and ignore true writers and poets as they hype soul and story and chase ambulances. Wyck Godfrey & Cliffyb think that all they have to do to make some cashola is hire theme-park-ride adaptation master Stuart Beattie to adapt theme-park-ride Gears of War, and then have Mark Rein drive down Sunset screaming at everyone that GoW is an epic story, while Wyck Godfrey makes sure that anyone who questions or criticizes New Line's Bottom Line BS agenda is exiled from Hollywood forever.

Well, as you might have noticed, Wyckyg and Cliffyb can't seem to find some director to kill their career by directing the artless, storyless, plotless, soulless GoW movie.

Rather than walking the hard road of creating lasting, epic, soulful art; they just want to hype crap that makes you and your money part.

Lord of The Rings was well-known before it became an epic movie, along with Hamlet, and The Godfather, and Gone With The Wind.

So why won't Cliffyb share the story?

I'll tell you why--because there is none.

And that's why they can't find a director.

Wyckyg only optioned GoW for the built-in fanboy audience. He dropped a lot of cash on storyless hype--on the very opposite of art and film and literature.

And then, in order to bolster his career, WyckyG must denigrate the Truth and Story, and hire Hollywood hack Stuartyb to pen some paint-by-numbers, soulles story, banking on Cliffyb's shameless ability to lie and hype about the existence of soul and story where there is none; just like corrupt bottom-line backers of New Line.

So it is that Hollywood must kill true and lasting art to finance their dying business, lead by the likes of 28% rotten tomato rating WyckyG.

Listen to the Tom Petty song, and think about WyckyG with his hand on the greenlight switch. Cliffyb gets to be famous, and WyckyG gets to be rich.

But, see, that's the problem. I'm never quite sure if it is knowing or not. There's enough in BEOWULF! that tries (and fails so miserably) to be serious that the line between intentional humour (of which there is definitely a fair dollop, especially in the slapstick fight sequences) and embarrassing absurdity is frequently too blurry to comprehend. It reminded me a lot of The Wicker Man remake for sheer "what were they thinking!?" value and I forsee a lot of pannings from critics on the horizon. It's a mess, frankly. I am still unable to work out exactly what market they're aiming at. Too silly for the Tolkien mob, too anachronistic and blindingly off-the-mark for the scholastic crowd, way too bloody for kids and yet too mind-numbingly stupid for adults. If you switch your brain off and just take it in as one of the most gloriously misguided, overblown spectacles of Dumb that you're ever likely to see, you'll have a blast. Otherwise, you're in for a very long two hours.

I hope they fire StuartyB and hire the Beowulf screenwriters.

I hope Cliffyb and WyckyG all make cameo appearances, along with the Wall Street bankers financing New Line's crap. In fact, the whole lot of them can play the Locust Horde.

You probably always imagined you were going to be in the video game business, but did you ever imagine they’d be making movies based on your creations? It’s kind of secretly always been my plan. I love movies, I love graphic novels, I love all forms of media, but at the same time I’ve always felt that some of the most creative minds are in the gaming business, and I felt that with the right people attached to the right projects you can make an incredibly compelling film based on games. Think about it. Rather than being savvy consumers, gamers are instead led by the nose to games that are hyped through the actions and scores of reviewers. Reviewers are taken in by the hype and inflate numbers and praise of games that oftentimes do not deserve them. And the sales skyrocket. I refer to this as the Phantom Menace Effect. Remember that? The days when we were all hotly anticipating the Star Wars prequels? The originals had already been elevated to legend and beyond. When we heard of forthcoming prequels, we knew it would be fantastic despite knowing nothing about it. The proto-Internet hype machine and endless news buzz fed this early impression, making it all but reality. When the movie debuted, it received both high praise and lines queued around movie theatres. Everyone who emerged from the theaters sang the movie's praises. It was not until months later that we collectively realized that the movie sucked.

Wyckyg and Cliffyb just want your hard-earned cash as fast as possible. They'll schlock some script together, throw on a story penned by MArk Reign, and have him call all the video game magazines to say that GOW is the greatest piece of art/literature/film ever made. And then, a few months down the road, even the fanboys will realize just how much GOW sucked.

Let's start listing all the times cliffyb has hyed the "story" in GOW. It's kindof lying--is it not? Liars are not good artists. Did shakepsare hype his plays?

CliffyB & WyckyG have totally dismissed Shakespeare.

Shakespeare is Hollywood's most-produced writer of all time, and yet the fanboy faddists totally dismissed him, as the Wall Street Hedge Funds that support New Line and modern Hollywood detest the classic Truth.

CliffyB always has a lot to say about "story" in video games, but he never references Shakespeare, Homer, Ovid, or Dostoevsky. Instead he references himself and Gears of War, which has no story, but for a fanboy story--the same kind of story dfound in a theme park ride, liek Pirates of the Caribbean.

Even when Hollywood produces classics, they totally screw them up, and they make them look like little feminized fanboy fantasies.

Neither WyckyG nor CliffyB are storytellers in the classic sense--like Sergio Leone and Shakespeare. Like John Ford and John Wayne.

They are not philosophers, like Plato, Socrates, and Aristotle.

They are not poets, like Dante and Homer.

Cliffyb is a video game producer, and Wyckyg is a classic case of the Hollywood hack/ambulance-chasing producer.

I think it's awesome that when it came to "adapting" gears of war, they chose Beattie, whose claim to fame is adapting a theme park ride.

No wonder they can't find a director. A director can't base his career on Cliffyb and Wyckyg driving up and down Sunset in their fanboy ferraris/lambroginis/mini-vans screaming, GEARS OF WAR IS A CLASSIC EPIC MOVIE LIKE LORD OF THE RINGS AND 300!!!

Get a friggin clue.

Lord of The Rings and 300 were classic epic stories, born by men with Honor in their souls.

As Wyckyg and Cliffyg prefer hype and deceit over honor, they have not the art in their souls to create epic, enduring art.

And thus vast opportunities exist in Hollywood.

But beware--the CliffyG WyckB StuartyB MATRIX will come after you and try to destroy you with their fanboy fulisades of fictional hype.

I have no idea why Cliffyb optioned GOW to a Hollywood producer with a 28% rotten tomato rating. But then again, I have no idea why a Hollywood producer paid all that Wall Street cash to option GOW.

But then you realize that the government/Wall Street prints money, and so it is that Hollywood hype/CliffyB hype/government hype/Wall Street hype all serve the same bottom line, as art, story, the family, culture, academia, and Truth are left to die.

Aristotle wrote, "when tsorytelling declines, the result is decadence."

Look closely, and you will see that cliffyb/wyckyg/wall street profit immensely in the short term via decadence.
