cliffyb & wyckyg don't give a damn about epic storytelling & deeper art

wyckyg and New Line's Wall Street investors just want to cash in on the GOW hypety-hype.

Check it:

http://advancedmn.com/article.php?artid=10277

Think about it. Rather than being savvy consumers, gamers are instead led by the nose to games that are hyped through the actions and scores of reviewers. Reviewers are taken in by the hype and inflate numbers and praise of games that oftentimes do not deserve them. And the sales skyrocket. I refer to this as the Phantom Menace Effect. Remember that? The days when we were all hotly anticipating the Star Wars prequels? The originals had already been elevated to legend and beyond. When we heard of forthcoming prequels, we knew it would be fantastic despite knowing nothing about it. The proto-Internet hype machine and endless news buzz fed this early impression, making it all but reality. When the movie debuted, it received both high praise and lines queued around movie theatres. Everyone who emerged from the theaters sang the movie's praises. It was not until months later that we collectively realized that the movie sucked.

Wyckyg and Cliffyb just want your hard-earned cash as fast as possible. They'll schlock some script together, throw on a story penned by MArk Reign, and have him call all the video game magazines to say that GOW is the greatest piece of art/literature/film ever made. And then, a few months down the road, even the fanboys will realize just how much GOW sucked.

Let's start listing all the times cliffyb has hyed the "story" in GOW. It's kindof lying--is it not? Liars are not good artists. Did shakepsare hype his plays?

WyckyG & CliffyB detest art, literature, and Shakespeare, and Dante

CliffyB & WyckyG have totally dismissed Shakespeare.

Shakespeare is Hollywood's most-produced writer of all time, and yet the fanboy faddists totally dismissed him, as the Wall Street Hedge Funds that support New Line and modern Hollywood detest the classic Truth.

CliffyB always has a lot to say about "story" in video games, but he never references Shakespeare, Homer, Ovid, or Dostoevsky. Instead he references himself and Gears of War, which has no story, but for a fanboy story--the same kind of story dfound in a theme park ride, liek Pirates of the Caribbean.

Even when Hollywood produces classics, they totally screw them up, and they make them look like little feminized fanboy fantasies.

I'm fed up with the idiots, the ever-widening gap between people who know how to make movies and those who green light them. I don't say they're all idiots - I'm just saying there's a lot of them. –Sir Sean Connery, 007

(John Milius) subsided for a moment and then resumed, somewhat mysteriously at first. "Homer," he pronounced. "Homer. Can you believe what those assholes did to him with that film Troy? Completely embarrassing. Me and my kid, we wanted to take a DVD of the thing, tie it by a cable to our car's bumper, and drag it up and down Hollywood boulevard." He fell silent for a moment. "Hollywood... The only thing I can think of remotely as horrible as war; there are stories, things I have seen in that town that, believe me, I would never tell anyone." –Valkyries Over Iraq, The Trouble with War Movies, by Lawrnece Weshler, interviewing John Milius in November 2005 Harpers Magazine, academy-award nominated writer of Apocalypse Now, Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry, Magnum Force, and
Electronic Arts' video game Medal of Honor.

In order for their dumbed-down hype to succeed, Wyckyg and Cliffyb have to make damned sure that true artists, directors, and producers, with deep, profound, epic souls are exiled.

Neither WyckyG nor CliffyB are storytellers in the classic sense--like Sergio Leone and Shakespeare. Like John Ford and John Wayne.

They are not philosophers, like Plato, Socrates, and Aristotle.

They are not poets, like Dante and Homer.

Cliffyb is a video game producer, and Wyckyg is a classic case of the Hollywood hack/ambulance-chasing producer.

I think it's awesome that when it came to "adapting" gears of war, they chose Beattie, whose claim to fame is adapting a theme park ride.

No wonder they can't find a director. A director can't base his career on Cliffyb and Wyckyg driving up and down Sunset in their fanboy ferraris/lambroginis/mini-vans screaming, GEARS OF WAR IS A CLASSIC EPIC MOVIE LIKE LORD OF THE RINGS AND 300!!!

Get a friggin clue.

Lord of The Rings and 300 were classic epic stories, born by men with Honor in their souls.

As Wyckyg and Cliffyg prefer hype and deceit over honor, they have not the art in their souls to create epic, enduring art.

And thus vast opportunities exist in Hollywood.

But beware--the CliffyG WyckB StuartyB MATRIX will come after you and try to destroy you with their fanboy fulisades of fictional hype.

But as V said,

[after a hail of gunfire doesn't stop V]
Creedy: Die! Die! Why won't you die?... Why won't you die?

V: Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof. --V IS FOR VENDETTA

I have no idea why Cliffyb optioned GOW to a Hollywood producer with a 28% rotten tomato rating. But then again, I have no idea why a Hollywood producer paid all that Wall Street cash to option GOW.

But then you realize that the government/Wall Street prints money, and so it is that Hollywood hype/CliffyB hype/government hype/Wall Street hype all serve the same bottom line, as art, story, the family, culture, academia, and Truth are left to die.

Aristotle wrote, "when tsorytelling declines, the result is decadence."

Look closely, and you will see that cliffyb/wyckyg/wall street profit immensely in the short term via decadence.

Cliffyb/WyckyG --Master Hypesters --anti-story--anti art: New Line = Bottom Line

Cliffyb & WyckyG have such massive egos that they think that their egos alone can carry the Gears of War movie, sans story, sans poetry, sans art, sans plot, sans character.

Beattie doesn't have a Lord of the Rings in his soul. He's a Hollywood hack who detests story as much as Cliffyb & Wyckyg. Stuartyb has never written a deep, profound, meaningful story. The sooner he gets the hell out of Hollywood, the better off we'll all be.

In the Feb. 2007, #212, Electronic Gaming Monthly, Shoe & Shawn Elliott report, in an article called: Afterthoughts: Gears of War, in an interview with CliffyB:
EGM: The Mad World trailer (of Gears of War) is pretty cool, but you never have that big encounter in the game, and you never really explore the human, emotional side of the story like the commercial hints at. False advertising?

Jonas Allen writes at http://www.dailygame.net/news/archives/006086.php :

Cliffy B. can kiss my ass. I mean that in the most polite way possible. Before you start penning the hate mail, take a look at our Gears of War review. That's right, it won an Editor's Choice award. So why the venom for Cliffy B.? Because that was the hardest Editor's Choice award I've ever doled out. I literally lost sleep before writing our review, because I couldn't decide whether Gears of War was really worth the score. At the end of the day, there aren't any significant faults with the game, and the gameplay mechanics have me itching to play more, so the award was warranted. But the game's so-called story made it really tempting to score Gears of War an 8.9 out of spite.

I would like to challenge Cliffyb and WyckyG to a televised debate regarding New Line's hype- before-art tactics, and their use of hype, money and intimidation to shut true story, filmmakers, and artists out of Hollywood. The culture is declining, the familiy is breaking up, abortions are soaring, Wall street's hedge fund contoritionists and subprime hawkers are getting richer on the backs of the middle class, and Cliffyb & Wyckyg are laughing all the way on down, as brave souls are sent to foreign shores to fight and die for the ever-augmenting debauchery.

What is needed is more transparency. Where does New Line get its money, and why do they oppose classic, majestic, epic art and story with plot, character, and soul? Wall Street has destroyed the classic american family, so it makes sense that New Line, who works for Wall Street, also detests story, plot, character, spirit, and soul.

As the gap between the poor and rich grows, as WyckyG and Cliffyb drive their fancy cars around town, story and art die, all to serve New Line's bottom line via hype, hype, and hype. New Line's new name should be Bottom Line.

And like all the modern hipster-hypseter fanboy hedge funds, they want to drag all of culture down with them, like the Whale at the end of Moby Dick.

But as the last whelmings intermixingly poured themselves over the sunken head of the Indian at the mainmast, leaving a few inches of the erect spar yet visible, together with long streaming yards of the flag, which calmly undulated, with ironical coincidings, over the destroying billows they almost touched;—at that instant, a red arm and a hammer hovered backwardly uplifted in the open air, in the act of nailing the flag faster and yet faster to the subsiding spar. A sky-hawk that tauntingly had followed the main-truck downwards from its natural home among the stars, pecking at the flag, and incommoding Tashtego there; this bird now chanced to intercept its broad fluttering wing between the hammer and the wood; and simultaneously feeling that etherial thrill, the submerged savage beneath, in his death-gasp, kept his hammer frozen there; and so the bird of heaven, with archangelic shrieks, and his imperial beak thrust upwards, and his whole captive form folded in the flag of Ahab, went down with his ship, which, like Satan, would not sink to hell till she had dragged a living part of heaven along with her, and helmeted herself with it.

Long after all the fanboyisms have faded, and all the WyckyG and CliffyB Bottom Line hype has faded from eclipsing Truth and Beauty, profound, eloquent art such as Moby Dick will rise again.

I know how all those fanboy hedge fund managers play--I know how the Hollywood douchebags run the town, with their little, violent blurbs and backstabbing.

So go ahead, make my day.

Christian Slater, Lindsay Lohan, Anthony Hopkins, and Sean Connery vs. fanboy Hollywood Hacks Beattie/Godfrey/Cliffyb

True talent has been run out of Hollywood by the fanboy hacks with rotten tomato ratings.

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/theatre/article-23416744-details/How%20the%20bad%20boy%20beat%20the%20Hollywood%20sharks/article.do reports on the talented Christian Slater:
Today he says he has huge sympathy for self-destructive young stars such as
Lindsay Lohan (who he met on the set of his last film, Bobby). "There are a lot of vipers out there. I'm sure it's hard for these young girls to find people they can really trust. There is an element of use you up and spit you out. "My heart certainly goes out to Lindsay. She is a very talented girl, everyone loves her, but you know she's a young girl. Who are we to judge or condemn?" We all make mistakes, he says, that's how we learn.

Would that Wyck Godfrey were seeking out and developing true, profound stories, novels, and scripts, instead of chasing storyless, plotless fanboy fads such as Gears of War, and then hyping the project to the media as soul and family died.

Wyck had better wise up that his first and foremost concern ought to be art and the souls and spirits of the young starlets, instead of amoral, bottom-line oriented hollywood hack hype that routinely receives rotten scores on Rotten Tomatoes:
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/wyck_godfrey/

Regarding the fanboy producer/hacks, Sir Sean Connery states,

I'm fed up with the idiots, the ever-widening gap between people who know how to make movies and those who green light them. I don't say they're all idiots - I'm just saying there's a lot of them. –Sir Sean Connery, 007

And here’s Sir Anthony Hopkin’s take on the decline, from:
www.thisislondon.co.uk

The Hollywood star's latest film, The World's Fastest Indian, is a true
story about a New Zealander motorcyclist who broke the land speed record.

Sir Anthony said of the movie: "No sex or violence, and that's refreshing.
"I'm also tired of the camera moving all over the place, with car chases so cut and edited you don't know what's happening. "It's condescending. Audiences aren't so mindless as movie-makers think." He added: "If you look at The Shining or Fargo, they photograph it and let actors tell a story. That's the old-fashioned way. I hope it comes back." The Silence of the Lambs star added that he would not put up with "tyrannical" directors any longer, adding: "I don't take this acting business seriously ... I enjoy acting more now than ever because I treat it as an enjoyable hobby. "I can't get caught up in the self-importance. People bow to your every wish and you forget where you come from and what you're doing," he told the magazine. "I recently worked with two actors who wouldn't come out of their trailers for some reason. "Can you figure that out? It's insanity. Or they complain because their trailers aren't big enough. "Bulls***. It's a job, like any other, so don't make a big deal. Be
polite, treat the crew with respect and don't think you're different.

Anthony Hopkins has a 60% fresh tomamto meter reading. His freshest movie is Remains of the Day (100%), which is about C.S. Lewis--another class act.

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/anthony_hopkins

Would that Wyck Godfrey and his Hollywood hack production machine respected Shakespeare and the Bible as did C.S. Lewis. But he just keeps on chasing ambulances: http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/111-10202007-1426777.html

Note that Godfrey is not seeking out classic books, nor novels, nor epic stories, but he is choosing to lead with picture-books, video games, spectacle, hype, and news-driven events, as the money-machine studio sees that it already has gotten linked on the web, and thus lowers the costs of publicity and their risk. There're a thousand great novels/scripts/stories with rugged heroes, but Hollywood fanboys won't touch them, as they lack the artistry and skill. Many of them do not read. It would be fun to grab a beer with Wyck or Fliffyb and talk about Moby Dick or Hamlet, but the snarky-snarks just don't think the classics are cool. They have been beaten and whipped by feminist deconstructionists thier whole lives, and have consigned themselves to rotten tomato-meter readings and soulless Hollywood product from the Hollywood Matrix/Death Star/Scottish Nobles/Sauron--New Line.

Sir Sean Connery has a 65% fresh tomato reading, with another 100% movie rating--the Man who Would be King. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/sean_connery/

Lohan and Slater both have Tomato Ratings in the 40's--still Way Above Wyck Godfrey's in the 20's. And the reason why Lohan and Slatyer have lower ratings than Hopkins and Connery is that the Godfreys have been taking over and exiling true artists and storytellers--profound craftsmen of the immortal soul.

It's time for Godfrey/Beattie/Cliffyb et al to leave Hollywood and find new jobs doing something useful, instead of corrupting culture with their fanboy hype tactics and fanboy ambulance-chasing production strategies. I hope they find time to actually read a book, before driving on dwon Sunset in their Ferraris/Lambroguinis, yelling, "GEARS OF WAR IS AN EPIC STORY AND EPIC ART!!!"

Why Have So Many Movies Lost the Plot? He Blames Video Games

I think it's sad that Wyck Godfrey and the Hollywood Machine are so artless and soulless that instead of creating and respecting story, they have to lead with fanboy hype, as story, art, and film die. Well, their own careers will soon follow suit--as that is what they chose--hype over integrity, fanboyism over manhood, cheap business over everlasting art.

Godfrey's tomato meter is at solid rotten (28%) setting, and after six rotten movies, you can bet the the GEARS OF WAR movie will be rotten too. What are the chances of the Gears of War Movie being better than I-Robot, which was written by a gifted storyteller and writer, instead of a Hollywood fanboy hack?
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/wyck_godfrey/about.php

Godfrey/Cliffyb need to leave Hollywood before becoming the next Uwe Boll.

Just came across an awesome blog posting: http://observer.guardian.co.uk/review/story/0,,1759066,00.html

Why have so many movies lost the plot? I blame the video gamesA cursory glance at the list of cinematic stinkers which have taken their lead from PCs, Xboxes and PlayStations reveals that there has never been a half-decent movie based on a computer game, says Mark Kermode Sunday April 23, 2006The Observer

'The video game is extraordinarily popular,' enthuses Silent Hill movie producer Samuel Hadida, 'because each gamer experiences something unique when they play it.' Not so the poor old movie-goer who is left experiencing the same dreary tosh as every other disgruntled audience member. Without the luxury of a joystick in our hands, the viewer has no chance to make the incoherent on-screen antics any better - or worse. We just sit ... and stare.

How about video games and movies with soul, story, and plot? Why are Cliffyb, Wyck Godfrey, Stuart Beattie so opposed to talented artists and writers? Why do they hate novels and the Great Books and Classics? Why do they always lead with hype, try to tag some fancy graphics on it, and then follow up with even more hype? Why does New Line want to lose money--is Wyck Godfrey's ego really more important than New Line's bottom line, art, and film?

More from the awesome blog posting--filmmakers (like Godfrey) have lead the decline of narrative and storytelling, as they cant' make films: http://observer.guardian.co.uk/review/story/0,,1759066,00.html

The decline of narrative has, of course, gone hand in hand with the rise of consumer test screenings, the grisly process through which Hollywood execs show a movie to a cross section of its imagined 'target audience' and then ask them what they would do to make it better. This is the one area in which audiences do actually get to 'play' movies like computer games, and the results are always terrible. It was dunderheaded audiences screaming 'kill the bitch!' at test screenings of Fatal Attraction who persuaded the film-makers to shoot a new ending in which Glenn Close's character became the victim of a shooting rather than a suicide, thus destroying whatever internal logic the film may have had. If it was left to the viewers, you can rest assured that Humphrey Bogart would have gotten on the plane with Ingrid Bergman at the end of Casablanca, or that Ali McGraw would have experienced a miraculous recovery in the closing moments of Love Story. Audiences cannot make movies - that's why they are audiences. Sadly, in the current marketplace, it seems that many film-makers can't make them either.

ROCK ON FANBOIS!!! BANGATY-BANG-BANG!! KILL THE STOY!! KILL THE PLOT!! HYPE! HYPE!

Why Video Game Movies Suck: Part II

A certain contingent of Hollywood/Wall Street hacks operate as fanboy ambulance-chasers.

Paris Hilton says "that's hot," and they rampage on over, drive on down La Brea, whip out their check books, and produce it.

Wyck Godfrey's rotten tomato meter is filled with clues as to why the Gears of War Movie will suck, if it is ever made:

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/wyck_godfrey/

Wyck's only movie which comes close to a positive tomato meter reading is I, Robot. This is because it was actually based on a story penned by real writer--a lone writer--a writer with story in his soul, instead of Microsoft-fueled fanboy hype.

But Wall Street and Hollywood hate real writers, as they hate the Truth--for Truth is the hard, long road, and they just want the quick buck. So they think they're taking less risk when they produce the Gears of War movie, complete with its built-in fanboy base, but in reality, they are taking a far greater risk. For at this table, and upon the silver screen, Truth and Story trump fanboy hype and ambulance chasing.

Make no mistake--video games will become epic, immortal art someday; but the renaissance will not happen with Godfrey/Cliffyb/Beattie/Fanboy Hype at the helm.

No, real men will someday take the helm, as soon as the snarky, perfidious fangirl hypesters fail to string the bow a few more times in a few more sucky, storyless, plotless, characterless fanboy films, and finally retire to that lower table of soulless sellouts, where they can no longer corrupt art and culture.

I guess you could say that I'm calling them out, and they're got to show their hand--there's the card of fanboy hype, and the card of ambulance-chasing movie production, and the card of hired-gun screenwriter with no special, sacred story in his soul, and the card of Wall Street muscle, but there is no card of epic, enduring art; which must come not from the beast nor matrix nor machine, but from the lone, moral individual.

You can call me a liar and condemn me to fire, but time offer proof, as time bolsters the truth.

One of two things will happen:
1) There will be no Gears of War movie, as the Wall Street bankers realize taht without story, all teh fanboy hype in the world don't buy epic art.
2) There will be a Gears of War Movie, Cliffyb will drive his lambrogini up and down sunset with Lindsay Lohan, yelling "come see our higher, immortal art!" as culture dies and taxes and divorce rise; and the movie will suck.

Why Video Game Movies Suck & Video Game Stories Suck

I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man. --Thomas Jefferson

Fanboys detest the great books and classics.

In their superficial, worldless, bookless, litless, soulless cave, spectacle and hype are all they know, and so they confuse spectacle and hype with story. They see pretty shadows dancing on the wall, and they don't feel so bad as culture dies all about them and the family breaks up, as they drive their Ferraris around, hyping storyless, plotless, soulless creations as great and enduring dramatic art.

You will never hear Mark Rein/Cliffyb/Wyck Godfrey quoting Shakespeare, Dante, or The Odyssey.

That's because only in the absence of the Greats, which remind us of Truth, can they hype, hype, hype. Wall Street had to get rid of the Great Books and classics, so as to better be able to devalue the currency and break up the family, and Cliffyb/Wyck Godfrey must serve Wall Street over art, truth, and Story.

Wall Street's New Line/Time Warner is afraid of competetion, and so they have created a soul-destroying, story-hating, art-killing Hollywood machine. Mark Rein/Cliffyb/Wyck Godfrey are the true Locusts, emerging from the subteranean Wall Street/Hollywood Matrix to kill story. For story reminds us of truth and individuality, and thus Wall Street, which relies on lies, hype and deciet to profit in their zero-sum game, cannot afford it.

The vast arrogance of fanboys never ceases to amaze me.

J.R.R. Tolkien has a Tomato Meter rating of 95% postive:
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/jrr_tolkien/

Wyck Godfrey has a Tomato Metere rating of 28%.
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/wyck_godfrey/

Why it is that Wyck Godfrey seeks to chase ambulances and hype fanboyism, instead of busting his ass penning an epic, classical story, we do not know. Wyck could reach out to modern authors, but make no mistake, he has run the numbers in his little head, and he has chosen to ignore the authors, just like the feminist Wall Street machine. He finds good company amongst fanboys, as they too detest epic, classic, profound story.

Make no mistake--this is war. Every lie/hype propagated by Microsoft/Cliffyb/New Line is a violent affront to Truth, and thus Story, as teh center and circumference of Story is Truth.

Unfortunately, in order to bolster the Wall Street/New Line mythology, the machine must place Cliffyb/Stuart Beattie/Wyck Godfrey over true art and artsists. This means that they must counter the truth, plot, chraracter, and epic story; and prop up superficial fanboy fictions and hype.

Make no mistake--they could reach out to true writers, to true art, to Truth and Beauty, but once they touched that Ring, they put it on. They chose the lies of the Matrix--the illusion of Wall Street's machine, over the rugged truth of the indie artist. They chose to serve the Dark Side of the Force, with groupthink, hyped Microsoft press releases concealing their lack of soul, spirit, erudition, and story:

"I'd rather have people say the story isn't deep than complain that they had to skip nonstop cut-scenes and comlink communications," Bleszinski says. Thanks a lot, Cliffy B. It's developers like you that give games a bad name by providing us laughably poor storylines utterly bereft of originality.

CliffyB does'nt know how to make a patriotic story, only a game with pretty graphics. Wait a week or so... you will get bitch slaped by a random Metal Gear Fan.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox360/review/R107512.html

Yes, I definitely think this game has been severely overrated by the media, due to the of course excellent graphics and ridiculous levels of hype. For a start, and one of my biggest Gripes in the whole game is the Story. Or more appropriately, the Lack of Story. It is very strange how Cliffy B said himself many times that he thinks games require a compelling narrative, and has even said that Gears will have a epic emotional feeling storyline. So Cliffy, where is it?

And thus as a hedge fund we will be shorting New Line/Time Warner.
